About the Lord’s Day

The Bible puts strong emphasis on the uniqueness of the Lord’s Day as a day to be set apart from the other days of the week. The events of the resurrection, the birth of the church and the coming of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost – all happened on a Sunday. The apostles and the early church recognized the significance of this day and set it aside for worship and fellowship. It is not the New Testament equivalent of the Old Testament Sabbath as if Christians should observe Sunday as Sabbath. Sunday worship is described in the NT and we are following the apostles’ practices.
