Lord’s Day Services
Our services on the Lord’s days are held in English and Hindi combined on the 4th Floor of Hotel Maharana Inn from 09:30 AM – 12:50 PM.
Address: 4th Floor, Hotel Maharana Inn, Chauhan Apartment, VN Purav Marg, Chembur Naka, Chembur, Mumbai, Maharashtra 400071
Congregational Worship: 09:30 AM – 11:00 AM
Our worship has the following elements:
1. Singing
We sing God-glorifying and God-honoring English hymns and Hindi songs that are scripture-based.
Psalm 95:1-2 – Oh come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!
Colossians 3:16 – Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
2. Public Reading of the Scriptures
All worshippers read the Scripture portion for that day, followed by a short exhortation by the worship leader. We usually read a psalm.
1 Timothy 4:13 – Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to exhortation, to teaching.
3. Congregational and Pastoral Prayer
We encourage some congregational members to praise God by praying out loud and expressing the congregation’s thankfulness and devotion to God. In the end, the worship leader closes with prayers for the church, ministry needs, associated ministries, and our nation.
Ephesians 6:18 – Praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints
1 Timothy 2:1-4 – First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
4. The Lord’s Table
We celebrate the Lord’s Supper every week as a remembrance of our Lord Jesus Christ’s painful death on our behalf to satisfy God’s wrath against our sins as well as our unity as one body in Christ.
1 Corinthians 11:23-26 – For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.
Pastoral Preaching: 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM
We consider this to be the highlight and most important part of our worship – a clear and faithful exposition of the word of God. We commit our lives to what we hear in this hour as we believe that when the preacher rightly divides the truth and proclaims God’s word, we are hearing God’s message for us. At present, our Senior Pastor is preaching through the book of Proverbs. The preaching is done in English and interpreted in Hindi.
1 Thessalonians 2:13 – And we also thank God constantly for this, that when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men but as what it really is, the word of God, which is at work in you believers.
2 Timothy 4:1-2 – I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.
Offerings
We also emphasize financial offerings as an active element of worshipping God. By giving a healthy portion of our personal income to the church, we demonstrate a heart of gratitude for how God has blessed us materially. Giving also manifests that we genuinely value pastoral and gospel ministry.
2 Corinthians 9:7 – Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver
Proverbs 11:24-25 – One gives freely, yet grows all the richer; another withholds what he should give, and only suffers want. Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered.
Sunday School: 12:20 PM – 12:50 PM
We have separate Sunday School classes for children and adults. These classes are geared to help the members grow in their love, appreciation, and understanding of the word of God. At present, we are studying Eschatology under Systematic Theology in the adult class whereas the youngsters are going through the “Fundamentals of Faith”.
Matthew 28:19 – Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit
2 Timothy 3:16-17 – All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.
Choir Practice
After the worship service, some of us stay back to learn a new English or Hindi song that we present before the congregation in the next Lord’s Day service.
Online Bible Study
We meet online via Zoom Meetings on all weekdays from 07.30 PM – 08.15 PM for an exhortation from the word of God and prayer (English and Hindi combined). At present, simultaneous studies are going on 1 Corinthians and Obadiah.
Sisters’ Fellowship
The ladies of our church (along with those from our sister church) meet on the first Saturday of every month at 04:30 PM for Bible study and fellowship (English and Hindi combined). The venue keeps rotating among the homes of the participants. At present, the sisters are doing meditations on Colossians.
Youth Meeting
The youth of our church meet in the evening on the second and fourth Sundays of each month in order to invest their time in the study and application of God’s word (English and Hindi combined). The venue is usually in and around Chembur. They recently finished a study on Spiritual Gifts and have begun a new series on Prayer.
